Meet a Subscriber - Leon Parks

Say hello to Leon, the self confessed "classic old diesel engine", who's looking to get his Box Hill time, under 6 minutes!!!! Leon is also a regular winner of our monthly distance challenge due to his incredible weekly consistency on the bike. Chapeau Leon 👏.


Name: Leon Parks Age (it is only a number!!): 44 Occupation: Art Editor Tell us about yourself: Have worked in magazine publishing for over 20 years, commuting to central London for work is what got me into cycling. During the summer months I also play cricket as well as enjoying the local lanes in Surrey. My daughter recently got her first bike so I'm looking forward to her starting her cycling journey! Have done a bit of road racing over the years, and have recently tried a couple of local club time trials. Are you on Social Media? In adulthood, a Diamondback Veil classic.

First road bike was a Giant Defy 2. Current bike: S-works Tarmac 2015 & Handsling RR1 Dream bike: Alaphilippe's world champ winning SL7 Favourite place to ride: Costa de Almeria in Spain, stunning and very quiet roads. If you could cycle anywhere in the world, where would it be?: Dolomites, can't beat them for impressive landscape views and amazing climbs. Why is cycling special to you?: Cycling is a great way to enjoy keeping fit with friends and finding new routes and places to explore. It's a great way to unwind the mind after a tough day or week. Biggest cycling achievement (distance/days/event): Finishing the E’tape in the alps in 2015, when I was relatively new to road cycling. Do you have a yearly distance target? 10,000km, almost made it this year so have revised to 12,000km. Any cycle trips coming up? Nothing yet planned as just back from a last minute trip to Mallorca which was ace, next year hope to cycle in Spain and the Pyrenees. Do you have any health goals? Always trying to improve my FTP, and get under 6 minutes on Box Hill! What benefits do you feel from taking VitxCycle? helps massively with recovery post ride and gives me all the right vitamins and nutrients needed for a healthy body. How would you describe your cycling style? Like a classic old diesel engine that just keeps going and going.
