This month we're heading to off to Snowdonia, Wales to meet Nigel. Our solo cycling Welshman (well unless he's riding to Paris for charity or on a sunny cycling holiday in Spain!) truly loves his sport, as it gives him time to appreciate his beautiful surroundings and take time for himself. Cycling is not about the destination, it's about the journey.

Name: Nigel Malkin
Age: 52, going on 25!
Occupation: Branch manager for Travis Perkins
Are you on Social Media? I`m on Instagram @hogsrunsandrides
Cycle club: I don't cycle with a club, I tend to do most of my riding solo....
What was your first bike? My first bike since becoming a "born again" cyclist was a Scott CR1.
Current bike: Trek Emonda SL7 Di2
Dream bike: Either a Project one Trek Emonda or a Pinarello F12
Favourite place to ride: Majorca - I have been lucky enough to go there 3 times, and am planning another trip in May 2023
If you could cycle anywhere in the world, where would it be? I'd love to ride in the Alps or Pyrenees......once I have lost a few KG's to make the climbing a little easier!!
Why is cycling special to you? Cycling gives me time to think and clear my head. It also makes me appreciate the beautiful area I'm lucky enough to live in - Snowdonia.
Biggest cycling achievement: In August 2022, I completed a charity ride from London to Paris. 200 miles over 3 days. Not the biggest ride, but an achievement I am hugely proud of. I also completed the 100 mile Velo Birmingham in under 5 hours. (editor note...you beat us with that time Nigel...Chapeau)
Do you have a yearly distance target? No distance target, but I just aim to ride a little bit more than the previous year. Next year, I'd like to complete 150 miles in a day.
Any cycle trips coming up? I'm off to Andalucia this weekend, and am planning a return to Majorca in May 2023........and maybe a trip to Italy too.
Do you have any health goals? To lose a bit of weight (10kg) and generally eat better and stay healthy. VitxCycle is certainly helping me do that!!
What benefits do you feel from taking VitxCycle? VitxCycle has made a dramatic impact since I started taking the capsules, particularly around recovery. During my recent London to Paris ride, I didn't once feel tired. I have also enjoyed good health, and have had no joint aches for some time, something I have struggled with in the past.
How would you describe your cycling style? Nowadays, I go out to enjoy the scenery, appreciate my surroundings and also to feel good about myself and what I am capable of. Whereas I used to go flat out for 3-4 hours, I now ride at a bit of a more sedate pace, and enjoy the ride. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the odd "burn out" when I feel like it.
